# Salesforce Service Cloud review

**Grade B− (71/100) · #10 of 12 help desks**

Salesforce's enterprise customer service platform, with Agentforce AI agents, omnichannel routing and deep CRM customization.

> Salesforce renamed Service Cloud to Agentforce Service in October 2025 and went back to the Service Cloud name in September 2026; current editions are Starter Suite, Pro Suite, Core, Advanced and Max [19][20][1].

## Verdict
Buy it if you run a large, complex service operation already on Salesforce CRM and want the most capable AI agent stack. The catch is cost: a 10-agent team on Advanced with agent assist and the Casey AI agent pays about $6,200 a month, under annual contracts.

**Good fit:** Large service teams already on Salesforce CRM; Contact centers that need skills-based routing across voice, chat and messaging; Regulated companies that need a HIPAA BAA and EU hosting

**Look elsewhere:** Small teams that want a fast, cheap setup; Buyers who want month-to-month billing beyond Starter Suite; Teams without an admin to configure and maintain it

## Pros
- Agentforce takes real actions on chat, email, voice, SMS and WhatsApp [6][7][8]
- Testing Center batch-tests agents on AI-generated conversations before launch [9]
- Omni-Channel skills-based routing across channels [11]
- Casey bills only when it resolves an issue, at $2 per resolution [3]
- Broad compliance: SOC 2, ISO 27001, HIPAA BAA and EU hosting [12][13][16]

## Cons
- Expensive: Advanced is $395 per user a month before AI add-ons [1]
- Pro Suite and above require annual contracts [1]
- Key channels are add-ons: WhatsApp and SMS via Enhanced Messaging at $75 per user a month, native voice at $125 [1][5]
- Three overlapping AI meters (per resolution, per conversation, Flex Credits) make bills hard to forecast [2][3]
- Reviewers report a steep learning curve and heavy admin needs [21][22]

## Grade breakdown
| Criterion | Weight | Level | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| True cost with AI on | 30% | 1/5 | $6,200 a month for 10 agents on Advanced with AI on, or $620 per agent [4][3]. |
| Price transparency | 15% | 4/5 | Edition and AI prices are public, but Pro Suite and above require annual contracts and some add-ons, such as Digital Channels on Core, carry no list price [1][2]. |
| AI agent and assist | 20% | 5/5 | Agentforce takes actions on chat, email and voice, with batch testing on AI-generated conversations in Testing Center and observability on agent performance and resolutions [6][7][8][9][10]. |
| Help desk essentials | 15% | 5/5 | Email, chat, help center, entitlements and Flow automation, native voice and WhatsApp, skills-based routing and thousands of marketplace apps [1][5][11][6]. |
| Security and data | 10% | 5/5 | SOC 2, ISO 27001, Europe hosting, a HIPAA BAA covering Service Cloud and a published statement that customer data does not train generative AI models [12][13][14][16]. |
| What users say | 10% | 4/5 | G2 averages 4.4 from 8,437 reviews, and Capterra's 4.5 comes from 832 reviews, short of 1,000 [21][22]. |

## What Salesforce Service Cloud is
Salesforce Service Cloud is the customer service side of Salesforce's CRM, covering cases, knowledge, a help center, Omni-Channel routing and the Agentforce AI agents [1][17]. It is built for large teams that want service, sales and data on one platform, and it can be customized almost without limit.

The lineup changed in the past year: editions are now Starter Suite, Pro Suite, Core, Advanced and Max, and the product went back to the Service Cloud name after a year as Agentforce Service [1][19]. In September 2026 Salesforce also closed its acquisition of Fin, formerly Intercom, to broaden its customer service AI [18].

## AI
Casey, the prebuilt help agent, and custom Agentforce service agents answer on web chat, portals, voice, SMS and WhatsApp, and a service agent can also reply to email through Email-to-Case [6][8]. Agents run actions such as order management and scheduling through flows, Apex and APIs, and Agentforce Voice reuses the same actions on the phone [6][7]. Testing Center batch-tests agents on AI-generated conversations before launch, and Agentforce Observability tracks performance [9][10]. For reps, the Agentforce for Service add-on brings Service Replies, summaries, knowledge creation and case wrap-up for $125 per user a month [4].

Customer-facing AI has three meters: Casey at $2 per resolution, Agentforce at $2 per conversation, or Flex Credits at $500 per 100,000 credits, where an action costs 20 credits ($0.10) and a voice action 30 ($0.15) [2][3]. Flex Credits and per-conversation pricing cannot run in the same org [2].

## Pricing
A 10-agent team on Advanced pays $3,950 a month in seats, $1,250 for Agentforce for Service and about $1,000 for 500 Casey resolutions, roughly $6,200 a month on an annual contract [1][3][4]. No cheaper edition includes both chat and the AI agent: Pro Suite ($100) has chat but no Agentforce, and Core ($195) sells chat and Casey as add-ons, with no list price for Digital Channels [1]. Max at $550 per user bundles Agentforce for Service and 2.75 million Flex Credits a year, so at 10 agents it can undercut Advanced plus add-ons [1][2]. WhatsApp and SMS cost $75 per user a month extra on Core and Advanced, and native voice is $125 [1][5]. Salesforce also lists EUR and GBP prices, such as €395 or £316 for Advanced [1].

- **Starter Suite:** $25 per user a month billed annually; $25 per user a month billed monthly (Case management, web and email case capture, knowledge base; no Agentforce)
- **Pro Suite:** $100 per user a month billed annually; Not offered billed monthly (Adds real-time chat, Omni-Channel routing, entitlements and 5 flows per org; no Agentforce)
- **Core:** $195 per user a month billed annually; Not offered billed monthly (Adds help center, unlimited flows, Premier Success and Slack Business+; chat, Casey and Agentforce are add-ons)
- **Advanced:** $395 per user a month billed annually; Not offered billed monthly (Adds web chat, Casey help agent with per-resolution pricing, full sandbox, Backup & Recover and Customer Signals Intelligence)
- **Max:** $550 per user a month billed annually; Not offered billed monthly (Adds Agentforce for Service, digital channels, contact center, workforce and quality management, 2.75M Flex Credits per org a year)
- **Casey, the help agent:** $2 per resolution
- **Agentforce Conversations:** $2 per conversation
- **Agentforce Flex Credits:** $500 per 100,000 credits
- **Agentforce for Service:** $125 per user a month, billed annually
- **Enhanced Messaging:** $75 per user a month on Core and Advanced
- **Contact Center:** $125 per user a month (US only)

## Security and data
Salesforce's security documentation lists SOC 1, SOC 2 and SOC 3 audits, ISO 27001, 27017 and 27018, PCI DSS and HITRUST for Service Cloud, though Messaging, Enhanced Messaging, Starter Suite and Pro Suite sit outside the SOC audit scope [12]. Service Cloud data can be hosted in Europe [13], and the HIPAA BAA covers Service Cloud, Agentforce Service Agent and Enhanced Chat, with data masking required for Agentforce [16]. The Einstein Trust Layer masks sensitive data and enforces zero data retention with third-party models, and Salesforce says it does not currently train generative AI on customer data [15][14]. AI sub-processors include OpenAI, Microsoft Azure and Google [13].

## What users say
Reviews are strong: 4.4 on G2 from 8,437 reviews and 4.5 on Capterra from 832 [21][22]. Users praise the unified customer view and integrations, and criticise price, the learning curve and the admin effort needed [22][21]. Salesforce names Simplyhealth, Agibank, Pandora, GE Appliances and Heathrow among its Agentforce service customers, and PowerSchool gives a public quote on Casey [17][6].
