HubSpot Service Hub review

Help desk built into HubSpot's CRM, with Customer Agent AI billed per resolution in credits.

Verdict

Service Hub is the natural pick for teams already on HubSpot that want a capable AI agent with a clear $0.50-per-resolution price. The catch is entry cost: Professional seats are $90 on an annual commitment, plus a required $1,500 onboarding fee.

Good fit

  • Companies already running sales or marketing on HubSpot
  • Teams that want an AI agent with a published per-resolution price
  • Support teams that need calling and WhatsApp in the same tool

Look elsewhere

  • Small teams that cannot absorb onboarding fees and annual commitments
  • Buyers whose auditors require ISO 27001
  • Teams that want month-to-month billing on a plan with the AI agent

Pros and cons

  • The AI agent works on chat, email, WhatsApp, Messenger and voice, and can call external APIs 3,7
  • Native calling and WhatsApp sit alongside tickets, SLAs and skills-based routing 1,2
  • Batch testing before launch and resolution-rate reporting for the AI agent 6,5
  • Support shares one CRM with sales and marketing, with 2,000+ integrations 8

Weaknesses

  • Professional and Enterprise need an annual commitment and a one-time onboarding fee of $1,500 or $3,500 1
  • Seats are costly: $90 on Professional and $150 on Enterprise 1
  • No ISO 27001 certificate of HubSpot's own on its trust center 9,10
  • HubSpot may train its own AI models on customer data unless a Super Admin opts out 13
  • Included credits are shared across all AI features and do not roll over 2

What HubSpot Service Hub is

HubSpot Service Hub is the help desk inside HubSpot's CRM platform. Tickets, live chat, email, calling, WhatsApp, a knowledge base and a customer portal sit on the same records that sales and marketing use 2,8.

It suits teams already on HubSpot. The catch is the jump to Professional: that is where the help desk workspace, the knowledge base and Customer Agent start, at $90 per seat a month on an annual commitment plus a required $1,500 onboarding fee 1.

The AI agent and assist

Customer Agent is HubSpot's AI agent. It answers on live chat, email, forms, WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger, and handles inbound calls, with voice still in beta 3,2. Admins can add actions that call external APIs, such as an order status check, test the agent in batches before launch, and track its resolution rate and handoffs 7,6,5. It needs a Professional or Enterprise subscription 4.

It is billed in HubSpot Credits: 50 credits per resolved text conversation and 50 per voice minute, at $0.010 a credit, so $0.50 per resolution 2,3. A conversation counts as resolved when it is not handed to a human within 72 hours 3. Professional includes 3,000 credits a month, enough for 60 resolutions, shared with every other credit-using feature 2. Breeze Assistant and reply recommendations help reps draft replies and carry no credit charge on the rate sheet 2.

Help desk basics

  • Channels. Email, Live chat, Phone, WhatsApp, Social messaging, plus a help center.
  • Routing. Skills-based ticket routing and ticket capacity limits in the help desk workspace 2.
  • Automations. 50 workflows on Starter, 300 on Professional and 1,000 on Enterprise, plus SLAs and conditional SLAs 2. SLA policies are included.
  • Languages. Customer Agent works in all HubSpot-supported languages 3

Pricing

A 10-agent team on Professional pays $900 a month in seats plus $220 for Customer Agent, once 500 AI resolutions run past the 60 covered by included credits: $1,120 a month 1,2. Add the one-time $1,500 onboarding fee in year one. Paying monthly on Professional costs $100 a seat and still needs an annual commitment 1. Enterprise is $150 a seat, billed annually, with a $3,500 onboarding fee 1,2. Starter is $7 a seat on annual billing or $20 month to month, but it has no Customer Agent 1,4. Extra credits cost $10 per 1,000-credit pack or $0.010 each pay-as-you-go 2.

Security and data

HubSpot publishes SOC 1 Type II, SOC 2 Type II and SOC 3 reports and a HIPAA attestation, but its trust center lists no ISO 27001 certificate of its own 9,10. Data is hosted on AWS in the US, or in Frankfurt for EU accounts 10. The DPA is part of the Customer Terms of Service, and Enterprise customers can sign a BAA under the Sensitive Data Terms 11,14. HubSpot may train its own AI models on customer data unless a Super Admin opts out; third-party AI providers such as OpenAI and Google may not train on it 13,12.

  • Data processing agreement. DPA incorporated into the Customer Terms of Service 11
  • Data hosting. US (AWS US East) and EU (Frankfurt) data centers 10
  • HIPAA. BAA under the Sensitive Data Terms, offered to Enterprise customers 14
  • AI training. HubSpot may train its own AI models on customer data unless a Super Admin opts out, and bars third-party AI providers from training on it 13.
  • AI providers. OpenAI, Google, Amazon Web Services and Baseten as AI service providers, per the sub-processor list 12
